50th Birthday Celebration &  SK Mahalingam’s Soccer Tournament

3rd August 2016

The Birthday Celebration was a gala event for the 1985 batch of old boys.  Some turned up single while the others came with their wives  on  3rd August 2016.  Most old boys were in their ‘school uniform.’ The Principal and the staff were at the entrance of the Peto Memorial Hall. The old boys were honored with medals.

Following this, they made their way to the College grounds where the present teachers, students and office staff were waiting. The Celebrations began with the singing of the College Hymn, Students’ Prayer and Oath.
Students wished the Johnians a Happy Birthday by their glamorous and colourful dance.

Next was the customary cake cutting and Happy Birthday song. It was the College’s little way of saying a big thank you to the old boys who were the backbone of the school.

The old boys enjoyed the day with their spouses and fellow students. The thing they probably enjoyed the most was the walk down memory lane with their childhood friends.

SK Mahalingam’s Inter-Stream A/L 7-a-side Soccer Tournament and Award Ceremony followed.

Next, some old boys shared their thoughts with everyone present. They reminisced their past – the past glory and trials of the College. They remarked about the educational standards maintained by the College and recollected the devastation caused by the war. They commended the Rev. N.J.Gnanaponrajah for rebuilding the College and steering it towards success.
After the fellowship lunch that followed, the old boys and staff parted ways with a full stomach and a full heart.
